St. Jude's
This is a serious post. I recently participated with the "Up 'Til Dawn" Event over at Bentley University, writing letters to people asking them to donate money to St. Jude's. St. Jude's is a hospital for children with cancer and it not only treats them, but it helps them deal with their fatal illness. If you get the chance, please donate to them, they need all the help we can give them.

Teen Attempts to Rob Man, Man Takes Him Out To Dinner
Julio Diaz has a daily routine. Every night, the 31-year-old social worker ends his hour-long subway commute to the Bronx one stop early, just so he can eat at his favorite diner.
But one night last month, as Diaz stepped off the No. 6 train and onto a nearly empty platform, his evening took an unexpected turn.
He was walking toward the stairs when a teenage boy approached and pulled out a knife.
"He wants my money, so I just gave him my wallet and told him, 'Here you go,'" Diaz says.
As the teen began to walk away, Diaz told him, "Hey, wait a minute. You forgot something. If you're going to be robbing people for the rest of the night, you might as well take my coat to keep you warm."
The would-be robber looked at his would-be victim, "like what's going on here?" Diaz says. "He asked me, 'Why are you doing this?'"
Diaz replied: "If you're willing to risk your freedom for a few dollars, then I guess you must really need the money. I mean, all I wanted to do was get dinner and if you really want to join me ... hey, you're more than welcome.
"You know, I just felt maybe he really needs help," Diaz says.
Diaz says he and the teen went into the diner and sat in a booth.
"The manager comes by, the dishwashers come by, the waiters come by to say hi," Diaz says. "The kid was like, 'You know everybody here. Do you own this place?'"
"No, I just eat here a lot," Diaz says he told the teen. "He says, 'But you're even nice to the dishwasher.'"
Diaz replied, "Well, haven't you been taught you should be nice to everybody?"
"Yea, but I didn't think people actually behaved that way," the teen said.
Diaz asked him what he wanted out of life. "He just had almost a sad face," Diaz says.
The teen couldn't answer Diaz — or he didn't want to.
When the bill arrived, Diaz told the teen, "Look, I guess you're going to have to pay for this bill 'cause you have my money and I can't pay for this. So if you give me my wallet back, I'll gladly treat you."
The teen "didn't even think about it" and returned the wallet, Diaz says. "I gave him $20 ... I figure maybe it'll help him. I don't know."
Diaz says he asked for something in return — the teen's knife — "and he gave it to me."
Afterward, when Diaz told his mother what happened, she said, "You're the type of kid that if someone asked you for the time, you gave them your watch."
"I figure, you know, if you treat people right, you can only hope that they treat you right. It's as simple as it gets in this complicated world."

Garfield without Garfield
Essentially, it's the Garfield comic strips with Garfield removed from them. It makes the comic strip funnier, and even a bit creepy. It is definitely worth a look.

Tony Hawk's Proving Ground
I'm about a fourth of the way through the career, but there is so much to do outside of that. There are mini-challenges outside of the career. You have to grind a certain distance, go off a jump and land past certain markers. There is also a "Tony Hawk Classic" mode where you can play challenges like you would in the early Tony Hawk games.
I do recommend picking this up if you can find it for a good price. Full price might be a stretch, but for 40 bucks or less, you have to give it a shot.

Front page of Digg!
My submission about I am Legend predicting the Super Bowl made it to the front page of digg yesterday. I got about 250 new visitors to the blog over the last 36 hours, which actually earned me some revenue. The submission received 2,877 diggs overall, and was also dugg by Alex Albrecht. Pretty awesome.
Update: 3060 diggs!

Quick Check-in
- The picture a day project is off to a good start. It's going to be a long, long time before it's done, so no worries on this front.
- Semester 1 is almost over. I'm looking forward to doing no work next semester.
- Still haven't seen Juno.
- I've been watching a lot of "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia." It is a fantastic and hilarious show, I recommend it to everyone.
- I have not been keeping up with my resolutions, so I'm not even going to worry about them any more.
- Ubuntu has been really fun to use. I still prefer OS X over it, but it's passable. The only issue is that I cannot get my sound to work, so that has become sort of a turn off to booting my laptop up with Ubuntu running.
- I got Pirates 3 the other day. I forgot how great of a movie that was.

I have also decided to make a photo-journal of myself. That means every day for an entire year, I will take one photo of myself to see how I have changed throughout the year, and then make a video slideshow of it at the end of 2008.
