Rejected NBA on NBC Commercial

I don't know why NBC didn't want to air it. For more hilarious versions of this, just search for Landmine PSA.

Fantasy Football Champs!

I won my ESPN Fantasy Football Prize League today! I finished the regular season at 8-5, finishing first in my division and second overall. In the playoffs, I won my semi-final match up by 20 points over a 2-week period. In the finals, I took on the team with the best record and won by 30 points, 169-139. This is only the second time I won a fantasy football league, and this one is prize-eligible. I can now get a t-shirt, mini-banner, or bobble head to commemorate this victory.

Congrats New England

Congratulations to the New England Patriots for being the only team in NFL history to finish a regular season 16-0. As much as I am a Bills fan, it's great to see this happen in my lifetime. They were clearly the best team in the NFL in the regular season, and I don't see them losing in the playoffs either.

Vacation, all I ever wanted...

It's finally vacation! We had the Senior Christmas Party today at school, which was pretty cool, especially since we got out at 10. It was really good to hang out with my friends for a few hours and not having to worry about anything else. Then some of us came back here for my little Christmas party, which was fun. We watched a bunch of movies, and literally watched the DVD screen saver thing try to go into the corner of the TV screen. It was awesome when it finally happened. If you don't know what I am referring to, watch the opening scene of The Office, Season 4, Episode 2.

I have all but one present for Christmas. The only person that is left to shop for is Lauren, and if you recall, I noted that she would be the hardest person to shop for. It has definitely turned out to be the case. I'll probably go to the mall tomorrow or Sunday to try and get her a gift.

Plans for vacation: Seeing I Am Legend at the IMAX, helping out with the Romney Campaign, and of course, Christmas. It should be a good time, lots more will probably happen.

Finally, I am thinking of turning this blog into a political blog, or at least having many political posts during election season. I love politics so much that I think this is the way to go. But for now, have a Merry Christmas if I do not get a chance to make another entry.

Boston Celtics

I know it's only December, but the Boston Celtics are one of the most impressive basketball teams I have ever watched. I watched a lot of games last year, and there was no energy. The team was dead, the crowd was silent every game and seemed completely uninterested. This year is a polar opposite. The addition of KG and Ray Allen have made the most dramatic improvement I have ever seen in my life.

I'm currently watching them play the Pistons. The game is close, but they're playing with an energy that the Pistons cannot match. The Big Three are all playing as good as they usually do, but Rajon Rondo impresses me the most. He was the biggest question mark for the team going into the year. He has performed superbly. His play tonight is especially impressive. At the half, he has 14 points and 5 assists. This is the toughest game the Celtics have played the entire year, and he's playing great. He is the real reason this offense has such a high tempo, because he's a high tempo point guard. I fully trust that he can lead the Celtics into the NBA Finals.

Now, the best record in the history of the NBA is 72-10. While I know the Celtics are good, they are not that good. They can probably get 60-65 wins. Sure, they've only lost twice so far, but they haven't played the powerhouse teams in the West. If they can defeat the Suns, Mavs, or the Spurs impressively, then I might think thye have a chance at 72-10.

And now we play the waiting game

As of yesterday I have finished all my college applications. Everything is submitted to the colleges, all that's left is to make sure that guidance sends my packets in. After I hear from St. John's I get to chill until March. It was quite the annoying process, and I never want to write another essay again.

Also, I hate snow. There is seriously way too much on the ground right now. I'm sick of shoveling. The roads are mad narrow now because the plows have nowhere to put the snow. I am looking forward to playing in the snow over vacation.

Speaking of vacation; only 4 more days until break, and Friday is the Senior Holiday Party! It's going to be a great time, and I hope this week just flies by so vacation can hurry up and get here.

Well, not much to say today, so peace out.

Movies

I've watched a bunch of movies over the last few days, so here are some quick reviews of them, just for you.

Superbad: There's not much to say other than the fact that it is one of the funniest movies ever made. It captures the awkwardness of being in high school and trying to fit in. If you haven't seen the movie yet, you are missing out. If you have seen it, watch it again and again because it's one of the best comedies in while. Buy this DVD, buy it now.

1408: It is a mind fuck. It is a crazy and scary movie. It's a hit or a miss, you have to be in to horror movies to want to see it, but even then you might find it a little to crazy for your tastes. It has John Cusack, who makes great movies all the time. While watching this movie you really have to pay attention to every single scene or else you might get confused. Make it a rental.

Disturbia: A decent horror flick. The characters are very likable, but you know exactly who the killer is from the start and there is no question even when the movie tries to throw you off. I've always liked a surprise as to who the murder is, so this was a little disappointment to me. That is the only major knock to it. Major horror fans might not like it, but the casual fans will probably enjoy watching this film once. It's also a rental.

Children of Men: Amazing. That's all I can say. It's a must see, a must purchase. In fact, stop reading this right now and go out and get it.

The Holiday: A holiday romance movie. It's pretty good, but watch it with your girlfriend because it's more of a chick flick than a guy film.

College Rush!

Well all my college stuff is due on Monday. I have my applications filled out, but I have to do all my supplementals for each school. In other words, instead of working on getting into college, I'm writing a blog post that no one will read, yay! The supplementals aren't that hard though, the longest one is 2000 characters for Bentley, and it will probably even be the easiest one to do. All it asks is why Bentley is the right fit for me. I'm really antsy to hear back from St. John's. I want to get into college so bad that I can just relax and let the denials from good schools roll on in.

In other news, Christmas is getting ever closer and I need to go Christmas shopping. I am horrible at Christmas shopping because I never know what to get my mom and sister. Maybe I'll bring help along with me this year. The two major things on my Christmas list this year are OS X Leopard and iWork '08. I also need some behind the ear headphones for running because the regular iPod ones always fall out of my ears.

That's it for today, short entry, but it'll get the job done.

Title Unknown

Yeah, I can't think of a good title for today's entry.

Alright so the Bills actually won this weekend and snuck back up to .500. I've been disappointed with how this team has been managed all season and really think it's time for another coaching change. However, I will give Jauron the benefit of the doubt and allow him one more season to turn it around. My solution is to draft a corner back in the draft since we'll have a middle pick in the draft. Then, make Trent Edwards the starter because he actually knows how to win games, unlike Losman. Finally, keep playing that running back Jackson. He's been really impressive and hasn't played enough. In his first full game he ran for something like 84 yards and gained 50 something receiving. The Bills have a pretty solid run defense and are fantastic in the red zone. The problem is their regular defense can't seem to make a stop until the other team actually gets in the red zone. We'll see how the rest of the season goes, and hopefully they finish around 8-8.

Now on to my life. So around 2 weeks ago I applied to St. John's University. They said it would take about 2 weeks for a decision to come. Well, I got a letter in the mail from them today and I got really nervous that I didn't get in because the envelope was really thin and that usually means a rejection. I opened it, and it said they received my application. Yup. So now in 2 weeks I will know if I got in.

Oh and I also finally 5-starred every Guitar Hero song on medium.

Christmas Countdown

Okay, so it is now post-Thanksgiving, meaning I am in Christmas mode. I put all my Christmas songs back on my iPod, and added some new ones. In fact, I recommend that everyone listen to the Relient K Christmas CD entitled "Let it Snow, Let it Reindeer." That has dominated my playlist as of late. The first three songs, "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas", "Sleigh Ride", and "Merry Christmas, Here's to Many More" are the best. Some of the songs on the CD would make good Guitar Hero songs, too. I can't forget the classics. Burl Ives is a Christmas song God. And to close out the Christmas paragraph: an honorable mention goes to the song "Happy Xmas, War is Over" by John Lennon and remade by the Fray. Both versions are splendid.

Evan, Kevin, and I are currently working on Secret Project 001. All you need to know is that it will be a song, a YouTube video, and amazing.

And to close today's post, I am planning a Christmas Movie Marathon at my house. I'm thinking it will be the day of our Senior Christmas Party, and we'll watch a ton of movies, and also do a Secret Santa. Spaces are limited, to around 6-8...and three guests are confirmed. You if you want to be one of the remaining 3-5, let me know...although none of you read my blog...

That's all for today.

Sean Taylor (DB, Redskins) shot at his house

Like the guy or hate the guy, he's a hell of a football player. Let's hope everything turns out okay.

Update: Sean Taylor has passed on. He was only 24 years old.

RIP Sean Taylor.

Thanksgiving Break

Happy belated Thanksgiving! I had a terrific day. I worked the concession stand at the football game for the final time. Unfortunately, the football team lost 42-28 to Marlboro. The stand was crazy, but it was always fun working with everyone in there. After the game, my family and I (as well as Lauren's friend) went up to Vermont to stay at my Aunt and Uncle's Bed and Breakfast. We got there around 6:30, and ate around 7:30. Dinner was absolutely amazing. There was nothing to complain about. It even snowed! Now I can't wait for it to snow here because snow is freakin' awesome. I can't wait to go back up there again. But besides Thursday/Friday morning, I haven't had the most exciting vacation. Friday night stunk but I won't get into details about that. Saturday (today) I'm going to go to the Natick Mall which will be my first time going there since they added all those new stores.

I have a pretty exciting week coming up too. On Thursday I have the Junior Achievement Stock Market Challenge in Boston. That should be pretty amazing as long as my team doesn't get its but kicked. If my team does somehow manage to squeak out a win, I will declare myself a J.A. All-Star for winning everything they throw at me.

In recentish news, the most amazing thing ever happened in the music pirating world. The website TorrentFreak is suing a Dutch anti-Piracy group for stealing a quote from them. Basically, a pro-pirating Web-Site is suing an anti-piracy group...for piracy. The full article/blog post can be found here if you would like to read it yourself.

And in closing, I would just like to say that I applied to my first college! Wednesday night I applied to St. John's University in Queens. I should know in 2-3 weeks whether or not I'm accepted...so fingers crossed.

YouTube! + other things

So while working on our Turkey Day sheet (which came out amazing, by the way), Mr. Martin showed us the absolute funniest video ever. It was called "Suspended for obeying the rules". Now I think the kid who makes these videos might actually have some kind of disease, but still, the videos he makes are just too funny not to watch and laugh at. I recommend that you (the one reader I might sometime get) watch at least a few of his videos.

Also, Presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee has probably the greatest campaign commercial in history. You can view it here. I won't spoil anything, but I will give you one giant hint to its greatness: CHUCK NORRIS. Even though I have officially endorsed Mitt Romney, I would love for Huckabee to be his VP just because of this ad.

Yeah so back to the Turkey Day sheet: It was finished today after an extremely long after noon. We put in close to three hours of work on it this afternoon. I suspect we will win, since our class is amazing. The theme of our sheet this year was "And the streak begins." We have a naked Hawk, and a bunch of naked turkeys trampling a panther, while running across the football field. It was well painted, but I never want to touch a paintbrush again. It took way too long.

And yea, that's all for today. Peace.

Yo, What it do?

Ah yes, a blog. I knew sooner or later I would get really freaking bored and make one, and ta-da!, here it is. I'm not sure how often I will post here, but I figure that I have enough to say that an occasional post will be up, say twice a week or so. This first blog should probably have something to do with introducing myself, so here it goes:

I'm AJ, a senior at Hudson High, who is seriously looking forward to graduating. I was captain of the golf team before the season (and my career) ended with the team winning 15 of 16 matches, Leagues, Districts, and finishing 6th in states. A pretty successful year I would say. For hobbies, I like to golf (obviously), play video games, play random sports, chill, party, and be awesome. I like pretty much every kind of music except for screamo and death metal. I love watching movies, especially comedies. Basically that's all the important stuff anyone would want to know, so there you have it: AJ in a nutshell.

These should get more interesting as time goes on when I actually give my 2 cents on news topics and the like. So enjoy and happy reading.
